Could there be a better way for meats to get to market?
Food systems, most notably in the meat industry, are meant to serve the commoditization of meat, foster competition within the supply and value chains, and focus resources on a consolidated solution, leaving little room for farms to control their final product or share their unique story with consumers. This homogenized system offers little control over the finished product for farms, keeping farms dependent on their place within the supply chain. Consumers are provided little choice and no brand differentiations purchasing meat as if it were gas at the pump: three grades and pennies between retailers.
Join James Bradbury of Bradbury and Company (Calgary, AB) as he dives into this complex issue, exploring alternative models and potential solutions to empower producers and provide meaningful options for consumers. Change is possible—let’s discuss how.
